I put $18,000 into building a brand overseas.
I was so ambitious to drop that line — so excited. The company I chose had high ratings on Alibaba. I vetted from a screen, got samples, then silence. Eighteen thousand dollars gone. No real product. A scam.
The worst part was not being able to call anybody — just emailing and filing tickets with no response. Because it was overseas, and I waited so long to dispute — thinking product was on the way — I had a hard time getting my money back from the bank. That’s when I learned Alibaba’s guarantee is not a guarantee at all. It took the wind out of me. Months recovering money. Afraid to try again.
